What to Expect from Our Program

We select, train, and match you with a fully trained service dog tailored to your needs, and we support you every step of the way, including after placement.

When you’re ready, here’s your next step:

GETTING A SERVICE DOG IS A MEANINGFUL COMMITMENT

This page walks you through each step so you know exactly what to expect.

Number 1
Learn and Decide

Take time to understand what having a service dog involves. Service dogs require commitment, consistency, and long-term care.

Number 2
Submit an application (no obligation)

Once you are ready, you can request and complete an application. This helps us understand your needs and determine if this is the right fit.

Number 3
The interview

We schedule a 1-hour interview ($120) to go deeper into your needs. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and make sure this is the right path for you.

Number 4
Cost & What’s Included

At this stage, we’ll review the financial commitment and what’s included. Client fees reflect only a portion of the true cost of training, made possible through donor and grant support.

Typical client contribution: $15,000–$25,000
based on available scholarships and individual circumstances
(Comparable programs nationally are often $20,000–$35,000+)

Program Dogs include:

  • Specialized task training

  • Full public-access preparation

  • Veterinary care

  • 11 days of on-site team training

  • Lifetime support

  • A no-cost replacement guarantee if the placement does not work out

All clients also receive ongoing support at no additional cost, including access to our weekly live Zoom support meetings to ask questions, troubleshoot challenges, and stay connected with trainers.

Number 5
The wait

During this 12-24-month period, we:

  • Select and train your dog

  • Prepare you through education and support

Number 6
Team Training

You will come to our facility in Indianapolis, IN, for 11 days to learn how to work with your service dog.
